Winter Preparedness Snow and Ice Conference Coming to Oak Forest


SOUTH HOLLAND, IL–South Suburban College is presenting a Winter Preparedness Snow and Ice Conference designed for Public Works directors, supervisors and operators on November 14th and 15th. These workshops are also valuable for snow plowing company owners/managers and operators. The conference will be offered in three sessions at SSC’s Oak Forest Center and feature award winning presenters Chris Walsh, retired Director of Operations of Beloit Public Works, and Stephen McCracken,The Conservation Foundation. The cost of theses workshops is just $28 per person. New chloride regulations require training as part of compliance.

The Basics of Snow & Ice Wednesday, November 14th from 11:30 a.m.-3:15 p.m.
Planning for winter operations is critical for leaders and involves thinking and planning before,during and after a storm. This session will focus on safety, establishing policies and procedures, fostering excellence in staff, complying with new chloride regulations, and updates and changes in products and the industry.

Thursday, November 15, from 7:45 a.m.-11:00 a.m. and duplicate session from 11:30 a.m.-2:45 p.m.
Every winter season needs to start out with the basics of preparing for winter operations. The workshops will cover snow and ice basics—safe, efficient and effective winter operations, environmental concerns including new chloride regulations, and communications such as policies and procedures during winter operations.
