SOUTH HOLLAND, IL–South Suburban College is hosting two open houses this week geared towards assisting new and prospective students in getting ready for the fall. The Child Development Center Open House will be held this Wednesday, August 5th from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m., followed by a College-Wide Open House on Thursday, August 6th from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
The Child Development Center (CDC) Open House on Wednesday is for both students and residents, as the CDC will open its doors to the public for the first time in the fall of 2015. The CDC was originally established to serve students, faculty, and staff in need of child care while participating in college classes and related activities. The goal of the CDC is to provide a safe and enriching environment that will stimulate the development of the “total child” for children ages 2-12 (must be potty trained). The CDC tuition is extremely affordable and the center is DCFS licensed. The CDC serves nutritious meals daily (breakfast, lunch, P.M. snack, and dinner). Kids will enjoy child-focused, hands-on activities and occasional field trips. The CDC is located in Room L233 of SSC’s Main Campus and is open Mondays through Thursdays from 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., and on Fridays from 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
The College-Wide Open House–coming Thursday–is the perfect opportunity for first time students to learn about the college’s wide range of programs and services. It will include a variety of tours and demonstrations, and prospective students 18 and over will be entered in an Open House Raffle for a trip for two to any concert of their choice in the Continental U.S. (excluding Multiple Day Festivals), Round Trip Airfare for two, overnight hotel stay and $500 spending cash.
Open Registration for the Fall—2015 Semester at South Suburban College (SSC) is still in progress. Fall classes don’t begin until Monday, August 24th, giving students plenty of time to become a student, get any financial aid in order, and choose classes to meet their needs. SSC is also now offering a Free Class to first time credit students residing in District 510, Lake County, IN, or those who qualify for the Chicago Regional Rate. The Free Class applies to tuition only, and does not apply to courses of more than 5 credit hours. Individuals must not be receiving any state or federal financial aid or employer subsidies.
