South Suburban College Region IV Championship Games


SOUTH HOLLAND, IL– On February 25, the SSC Bulldogs opened up the 2016 Region IV tournament with a home contest vs. Waubonsee Community College. They earned the #2 seed in the tournament, and lived up to their seeding with a 101-55 victory over Waubonsee. The Bulldogs advanced to the semi-finals of the Region IV Tournament.

In the NJCAA Region IV Division Tournament Semifinal on February 28, the #2 seeded Bulldogs took on the #6 seeded Carl Sandburg Chargers as South Suburban College was competing in its tenth straight final four game during Coach John Pigatti’s ten seasons at the school. The Bulldogs pulled away in the first half and advanced to their ninth Region IV Championship game with a 96-67 victory.

South Suburban improves to 30-2 on the year. It is the fourth time that a Bulldog team has won 30 games in Pigatti’s tenure as coach. They now advance to the Region IV Championship game where they will play Morton College Saturday, March 5th. The game will be played at Eriksson Hall at Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove, IL. Tip off time is 7:30pm.

The Women’s basketball team will also play this Saturday, March 5th in the Region IV Championship games at Waubonsee Community College at noon vs. Waubonsee.
