South Holland, IL – South Suburban College (SSC) is excited to announce it has been selected as a top ten finalist for the 2025 Bellwether Award in the Planning, Governance, and Finance category. The nationally recognized Bellwether Award celebrates innovation and excellence in addressing critical challenges in higher education. Continuous Improvement in Teaching and Learning is being highlighted by finalists from 30 different states.
SSC’s on Reflect, Recalibrate: The South Suburban College Outcomes Assessment Framework, demonstrates the institution’s commitment to student success and illustrates the amazing work that the Outcomes Assessment Committee does daily for the benefit of the students and faculty.
The SSC Outcomes Assessment Framework helps the Learning Community by:
- Providing measurable student achievements data.
- Identifying strengths and areas for improvement in course design and instruction.
- Enhancing institutional accountability to stakeholders through relative and effective institutional offerings.
- Supporting accreditation through continuous assessment initiatives.

The Bellwether Consortium annually selects 30 community college finalists from a competitive pool of applicants across the United States and its territories. Finalists present their innovative programs during the 31st Annual Community College Futures Assembly, held on Sunday, February 23 through Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the Menger Hotel in San Antonio, Texas. The winners will be announced after a rigorous two- round judging process by a panel of peers and scholars.
