South Holland, IL – South Suburban College (SSC) Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHaRM), in partnership with Cook County Commissioner Dr. Kisha E. McCaskill, 5th District, Senator Napoleon B. Harris III, and Mayor Roger Agpawa of the City of Markham, invites the community to join in a day of recycling and family fun at the Recycle Day & District Office Grand Opening. This exciting event will take place on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 3039B W. 159th St., Markham, IL.
“I’m reaching out for our community’s support of sustainability,” said Commissioner McCaskill. “Recycling goes beyond a simple choice; it’s a pledge to our planet and generations to come. By making small changes today, we can create a more equitable and sustainable future. We are in this together.”
Residents are encouraged to bring their recyclables and enjoy a day filled with activities for the whole family. Acceptable items for recycling include:
- Clothing and Textiles (clean & dry)
- Styrofoam (clean, free from food, tape, or labels)
- Household recycling (paper, plastic bottles, containers, metal cans, glass bottles, and jars)
- Electronics & small appliances
In addition to recycling, attendees can look forward to a variety of fun activities, including food, face painting, jump houses, giveaways, and much more! This event aims to promote environmental awareness while providing a fun and engaging atmosphere for families in the community.
