SOUTH HOLLAND, IL–The Art & Design Department of South Suburban College is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Linda Hoffhines entitled “Studio Stories.” The exhibition will be on display in the Dorothea Thiel Gallery March 1st through April 17th with an artist reception on April 2nd from 1-2 p.m.
Linda Hoffhines was educated at Ohio State University, earning both Master of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts Degrees. She is currently a professional artist who has shown internationally and been extensively collected since the 1980’s. Her work is featured in books, galleries, private collections and museums. Originally trained in photography, painting and drawing, she fell in love with clay during the last year of her undergraduate BFA Degree. She later was an integral part of the Chicago Ceramics scene and a prominent member of Lill Street Studios, Chicago. Hoffhines is known for her Etruscan vase forms, ceramic mosaics, and color sense. More recently, her repertoire includes non-traditional mixed media and traditional painting.
“I make abstract paintings that explore the relationship between gesture and intension,” said Hoffhines. “My paintings express the joy of the process of painting – color and line – it’s an adventure! I don’t know where a painting is going to go and that’s the beauty and magic of painting.”
The public is welcome to visit art exhibitions and receptions at no charge. The Dorothea Thiel Gallery is located on the fourth floor and is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The galleries are closed on weekends and holidays.
