Join South Suburban College for Juneteenth Jubilee and Civility Brunch: A Walk in My Journey

South Holland, IL — South Suburban College (SSC) welcomes you to come and walk in the journey of Juneteenth as we learn more about culture, family, freedom, and civility. SSC invites you to join us for a special event, “A Walk In My Journey,” celebrating Juneteenth with a rich array of activities and engaging discussions inclusive for the whole family. Join us Wednesday, June 12, 2024, from 12:00 PM – 2:30 PM in the courtyard of the main campus located at 15800 S. State St, South Holland, IL. The Civility Brunch will take place in the MB Financial Conference Room from 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM and will feature inspiring speakers, engaging discussions, and a chance to connect with others who share a commitment to these values. It will be an opportunity to reflect on the significance of Juneteenth, while also exploring how we can promote civility in our daily lives and communities.

Event Highlights:

  • Interactive Displays: Engage with educational exhibits that bring to life the history and significance of Juneteenth.
  • Surprises and Raffles: Participate in exciting giveaways and raffles throughout the event.
  • Traditional Foods: Enjoy a variety of ethnic dishes to keep you energized as you explore.
  • Free Haircuts: In honor of Juneteenth, the SSC Barbershop is offering free haircuts to men, women, and children attending the event. All barbering services will be provided by our talented barber students.

This is a family-friendly event. Activities and entertainment suitable for all ages will be available, making this a perfect event for families. Join us for a day of celebration, education, and community as we honor the journey of Juneteenth. This event is free and we look forward to seeing you there!
