Understanding and Implementing Restorative Justice Practices in Higher Learning

Faculty and staff are invited to the “Understanding and Implementing Restorative Justice Practices in Higher Learning” training opportunity on Tuesday, March 19 from 2 – 3:30 p.m. in the Multicultural Wellness Center (Room 2348). Students are also welcome to attend this event for service-learning credit. Topics of discussion include defining restorative justice, restorative justice practices (history and implications), restorative justice in school settings and restorative justice as it applies to working with gender-based violence. “Understanding and Implementing Restorative Justice Practices in Higher Learning” will be presented by Megan Rodgers. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Governors State University in 2019 and is currently working to obtain an M.A. in Criminal Justice. She works at the YWCA as the Manager of Advocacy and Crisis Intervention for South Suburban Cook County. Megan serves as the Chair for the South Suburban Cook County Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). She also serves as a member of the Cook County Human Trafficking Task Force, South Suburban College’s Coordinated Community Response Team (CCRT), and GSU’s Advocating for Sexual Assault Prevention (ASAP) team. Megan has completed research projects on a variety of topics including restorative justice practices in the United States.
