The Cook County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and the SSC Criminal Justice Program host a gun lock giveaway and discussion on mental wellness and crisis intervention options on Thursday, November 21 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center on the first floor of the Main Campus. This event is free and open to the public. Learn more about firearm safety at this informative event. More specifically, there will be:

* Presentation from the VA on Counseling Access to Lethal Means (CALM) Course
* Presentation from the Cook County Sheriff’s Office on Firearms Restraining Orders (FRO)
* Presentation from the Sheriff’s Police Department on firearms familiarization, safety tips, and gun lock installation demonstration
* Gun lock distribution
