The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Cosmetology offers students hands-on training in all facets of cosmetology, including hairstyling, esthetics, chemical services, nail services, salon operations, and license review. The program meets the standards of the Illinois Department of Finance and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) in total hours, teaching staff, equipment, facilities, libraries and course content.
Students are required to complete at least 1500 hours in the Cosmetology Program. Once students have completed all coursework and laboratory hours, they are eligible to sit for the state licensure examination through IDFPR. Students must be licensed by the State of Illinois in order to practice cosmetology.
AAS Degree
The AAS in Cosmetology gives students the critical thinking skills and educational background to advance in the field.
Certificate Program
The Cosmetology Technician Certificate offers students hands on training in the art, skill, and science used in the cosmetology business.
IDFPR Approved
The Cosmetology curriculum meets the academic requirements to sit for the State of Illinois Cosmetology license examination through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). The Cosmetology Program is required to be licensed through IDFPR. The college has created a curriculum that is inclusive of the IDFPR requirements outlined in section 1175.530, Cosmetology Curriculum Requirements.
