Women's Basketball Coaching Staff

Darrell Scott — Head Coach

Coach Scott is entering his 20th year of coaching women’s basketball at SSC. This is his first and only head coaching tenure in the women’s ranks. He has won over 300 games and compiled a 63% winning percentage. His teams have been recognized for their competitiveness, toughness, and defensive intensity. He has been lauded for building strong playoff teams and stalking the sidelines with fiery passion for his student-athletes. Coach Scott has led his team to three appearances at the NJCAA National Tournament (1999, 2000, and 2005).

The 2005 team finished 8th at the NJCAA National Tournament. He has coached seven JUCO All-Americans. Darrell had the luxury of finishing the 2006 season as the head coach for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams. Both teams finished as the Region 4 runners-up.

Coach Scott is a 1987 graduate of Grinnell College where he excelled in both basketball and track and field. He was a 3-year starter and was named All-Midwest Conference. Prior to coaching the women at SSC, Coach Scott served three years as the men’s assistant coach at SSC.

Darrell is married to his beautiful wife Kimberly and has three sons: Darrell Jr., Christopher, and Gary.

 

Loyola Moore — Assistant Coach

Coach Moore is a lifelong Chicago resident who has been on the women’s basketball scene for a number of years. She is a graduate of Chicago State University where she earned her BA degree and was a standout player and captain for the Lady Cougars.

Prior to attending CSU, Loyola attended Coahoma Community College in MS. While at CCC, she served as team captain. She comes to SSC after successful coaching stints at Rich Central, Thornton Township High School, Rosa Parks Middle School, and Harlan High School. Coach Moore played for the semi-professional Chicago Express.

In addition to coaching, Loyola is a social worker at the Jane Addams Hull House. She is the Vice-President of the Athletic Alumni Association of Chicago State University and a member of the 2010-11 NCAA Steering Committee of Chicago State University.

Coach Moore is the mother of one son and grandmother of two.
